Landscape and Nature
This painting depicts the Cedar forest of Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, at Yamanouchi, Shimotakai, in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, which is famous for its large population of wild Japanese Snow Monkeys. Heavy snowfalls cover the ground for close to four months a year and it is only accessible via footpath. The artist visited this forest in early 2014.
