Intricately-woven bird nests. Cloud-reflecting puddles. Gently budding branches. Vibrant flowers. A sun-drenched trail. Colors, life and light abound. The ground smells rich, waters thaw and the air is loud with bird’s song.

Spring certainly is a season of joyful rebirth throughout New England. What wonderful natural images come to mind when you think of the spring season?

In this exhibition, a group of 19 artists show their works which depict, or are inspired by, a New England spring. Images feature various mediums including watercolors, oil paintings, photography, and collage.

I am delighted to have been invited to an artist residency in Assisi, Italy at Arte Studio Ginestrelle, in August, 2017. I plan to continue to work on themes of endangered and threatened native species, as well as the legacy of St. Francis, during my residency.

Janel's painting "Imaginary Landscape" has been has been placed by Boston's The Art Connection with the Jerimiah-Endicott Program in Dudley Square, and organization that supports single mother's with children to return to earn college degrees.

I am speaking at McQuade Library, Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts for my show of Environmental Art, April 13th at 2:45 pm. The talk is called "Native Species Threatened: the Environment, Climate Change and Faith, from 1600s New England to Pope Francis". All are welcome! I'm excited to be preparing for a solo show at Tufts Health Plan's "Harris A Berman Diversity Gallery" at their headquarters on Mt Auburn street in Watertown (MA) for the next two months. The exhibit will start early April and run until the end of May. It is normally only accessible to employees but I will have a reception for anyone interested, dates to come.

Janel is participating in the Children's Chair Project, sponsored by Bette Task, with the Artist's Group of Charlestown, to support AGC and develop awareness in the community of Charlestown. Six children's chairs are being painted by AGC artists and will be showcased throughout Charletown at various locations, and then will be raffled off at the 2012 Annual Spring Show. Janel's design for her chair was inspired by the book "Napi Goes to the Mountain" by Central American authors and illustrators Antonio Ramirez, and his wife, Domi. The authors are active in working for the rights of the Native people of Mexico, especially in connection with the Zapatista movement in Chiapas.

Janel will be exhibiting with the 14th Annual "Art in the Park" show with the Artist's Group of Charlestown, at DCR's City Square Park in Charlestown, MA on Saturday, September 10, 2011, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

"Cambridge Church" was exhibited in a show with the Artist's Group of Charlestown for the Charlestown Preservation Society, June 23, 2011.

Janel will be exhibiting in the Art Gallery at the Concord Free Public Library from August 3-September 1, 2011. There will be a reception Saturday, August 13th, from 9-1pm.

Tulum 1 and Tulum 4 will be shown at the Spring Show at the StoveFactory Gallery, in Charlestown. Artists Group of Charlestown
